Summary
December, 1865. A Dickensian cast of characters peoples this colorful, heartfelt play with music, set in a London hat shop on the darkest night of the year. There, a clever young girl labors away in an effort to work off the debts of her father, while a wily schemer plots to steal the headgear of Europe’s greatest writer. Deftly scored with “original Victorian carols,” MR. DICKENS’ HAT balances warmth and wit, suspense and spectacle, in a theatrical tale designed to delight audiences of all ages.
Commissioned by Northlight Theatre, and to be premiered there in November, 2021.
